I'm Starting a Blog

Welcome to Emerson Etc... The Blog

I feel like this has been a long time coming?

If you're reading this right now, it's probably because you follow my Instagram account, @emerson_etc, where I post some of my published articles, outfits or anything I feel like sharing that doesn't have a home elsewhere. It is an account where I'm able to express and share things I feel passionately about with people I love.

I have learned a lot from starting this extra Instagram account, but the biggest lesson I've learned is that people don't know what "etc" means... so I apologize for assuming that was a common thing in people's vocabulary. Anywho, I figured if this first post is going to get anything across to its readers, it will be the meaning of the abbreviation "etc."

Etcetera, or etc., is another way to say something is continuing. Another way to say "and so forth." So the OG meaning of my Instagram account's name is basically just a continuation of my main account. A deeper dive, I suppose. If you want a better explanation, do as the cool kids do, and google it.

Enough sarcastic banter!

What the heck are you doing, Emerson?

At the moment, I am a recent college graduate who is working at a restaurant in my hometown to make some cash before I am off on my own. I had an incredible apprenticeship with Better Homes & Gardens magazine during my senior year and am still freelance writing for them until I secure a full-time job.

While I am so lucky to have the opportunity to write for such a renowned digital magazine, my true passions are travel, fashion, wellness and lifestyle. There is so much I want to say about these topics, but nowhere I am putting my thoughts. So I am finally taking matters into my own hands and starting this blog to further build my portfolio.

I am really excited about what the future holds as I am heading back over to Europe in September (hello content!!!) and have a couple solid plans but will be solo traveling for the most part. After I return to the Land of the Free in November, I will start the job hunt as well as look for a new place to call home.

So I guess if you made it to this point, thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you are as excited as I am to see where this goes!!

Cheers!
